A change of season is a useful moment to review your scalp routine. Start with how you wash and your surroundings, rather than automatically adding more care.

In winter, notice dry surroundings

Look at water temperature and indoor humidity. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends warm rather than hot water and attention to humidity in its general dry-skin advice.3 This concerns skin broadly, not the effects of a particular scalp service.

In spring and summer, revisit washing habits

Bring seasonal care back to everyday washing. The academy advises concentrating shampoo on the scalp and choosing washing frequency according to hair type and condition.2 A season alone does not set the same schedule or extra care steps for everyone.

In autumn, avoid assuming the season explains discomfort

The season alone cannot explain an itchy scalp. Check that shampoo is rinsed out, since residue can irritate the scalp.4

Keep everyday care separate from medical advice

This article reviews a routine; it does not diagnose your scalp. If itching or discomfort persists, consult a dermatologist.4
